New NEC 55” Touch Screen ideal for Digital Signage Applications

Touch screen integrator specialists DisplayLite today announce the launch of the DSTSUP551; the latest professional series P551 55” NEC display with 3M Touch Systems DST (Dispersive Signal Technology) touch screen, fully integrated behind a standard NEC bezel.

The NEC DSTSUP551 offers a chemically-strengthened glass, stylus-independent touch solution with fast-accurate-repeatable response and operation unaffected by contaminants, static objects or other touches on the screen.

The 55” NEC touch screen is ideal for use in single touch, point and click, interactive digital signage and point-of-information applications. Its versatility means it can be used in landscape or portrait orientation. Its anti-glare etched glass-surface provides excellent optical properties in a wide range of ambient light conditions and minimises the appearance of fingerprints.

DST requires a positive contact on the surface of the glass, this means that unlike above the surface touch technologies, it doesn’t suffer from false touches, which can occur if the users hesitates above the touch point and inadvertently breaks a beam.  This is especially common in digital signage applications where many information screens rely on menu-based buttons.

The NEC P series provides all the features required for demanding 24/7 operation including industrial strength design and thin bezels as well as the latest interface technologies such as HDMI, DisplayPort and LAN. The built in expansion slot enables seamless integration of a media player, built in PC as well as HD-SDI, DVI Daisy chain boards and CAT5 extension modules.   In addition to the new 55” model, DST is available on the NEC P and V Series in 32”, 40”, 42” and 46” sizes to suit a variety of space requirements and budgets.
